MISSION OF THE WSHS ADVISORY COUNCIL
The mission of the Advisory Council is to provide advice and comment to the WSHS administration on issues pertaining to individual departments, to the school as a whole, or relative to achieving the school’s goals through the development, implementation, and evaluation of the Five-Year School Plan.
PURPOSE OF THE WSHS ADVISORY COUNCIL
The primary purpose of the Woodbridge Senior High School (WSHS) Principal’s Advisory Council (PAC) is to develop, implement, and evaluate the Five-Year School Plan.
The Five-Year School Plan is the document that identifies the operational goals and objectives of WSHS, within the framework established for the district.
The secondary purpose of the WSHS Advisory Council is to help identify issues effecting WSHS and recommend possible solutions.
ADVISORY COUNCIL MEMBERS
With a total of thirty members, the council promotes communication among the Administration (5 members), Staff (12 members), Students (6 members), Parents (6 members), and a Business Liaison (1 member).
Parent Representatives and the Business Liaison serve two year terms, and vacant slots are filled by a lottery. Student Representatives serve a one year term and are appointed by the Principal. Administration and Staff are appointed by their respective departments.
ADVISORY COUNCIL MEETINGS
The Advisory Council generally meets at 7:00 PM in the school library, on the second Wednesday of every other month, beginning in October and ending in June. For the 2016-2017 school year, the dates are 10/19/16 (adjusted), 12/14/16, 2/8/17, 4/19/17 (adjusted), and 6/14/17.
Non-members are welcome to address the council on any topic that has an impact on school in general, or any individual department at the school, during the “Open-Chair” portion of the Council’s monthly meetings, which runs from 7:00 to 7:15. Notification of intent to address the Advisory Council, is preferred, but not necessary; and can be accomplished by sending an email (with your name and a brief description of your “open-chair” topic) to the Chairperson. Comments or suggestions to the Advisory Council are also welcome.
